Live Matchplay Walkthrough & Damage Math
You have 4 untapped lands on field and cast a 4/4 Creature spell. Opponent has 2 Blue mana available.
Cast Spell: You tap 4 lands and cast your 4/4 Creature. The spell is placed onto "The Stack" (it is not yet on the battlefield).
Priority Pass: Priority passes to your opponent. They cast an Instant spell: "Counterspell" ({U}{U}), placing it on The Stack on top of your creature.
Your Response: Priority returns to you. You tap 1 remaining land and cast "Spell Pierce" targeting their Counterspell.
The Stack Resolves LIFO (Last In, First Out): "Spell Pierce" resolves first, countering their Counterspell.
Creature Enters Battlefield: With the Counterspell negated, your 4/4 Creature successfully enters the battlefield!
Turn continues to Combat Phase.
